‘IRE-Polus’ Ltd. is a Russian enterprise with a worldwide reputation and a leader in the production of fibre lasers. We have been developing and manufacturing laser and fibre equipment since 1991. The product line includes about 600 products. Among them:

Our customers are more than 300 companies and laboratories in Russia, Europe, Japan, USA, Canada and Eastern countries.

Facts from the past

IRE-POLUS HISTORY

1991

The company was organised in Fryazino(Moscow Region). Its founder, Valentin Gapontsev, head of the IRE RAN laboratory, united a group of enthusiasts (physicists and engineers from two institutes) around him and began to explore areas of practical application of their potential.

1993–1994

A small team of company employees conducted intensive research and developed the first prototypes of diode-pumped fibre light amplifiers with power exceeding foreign analogues.

 

1995

Gapontsev moved to Germany and founded IPG Laser GmbH.

1997

Founding of IPG Fibertech S.r.l.. Start of serial production. The first order was fulfilled for the Italian telecommunication company Italtel, the second was a system of obstacle control during helicopter flights for Daimler Benz Aerospace. The largest order for several million dollars was for the leading American telecom operator Bell outh

1998

US site opening – IPG Photonics

2000

Creation of the first IPG Photonics medical devices

2002

Start of in-house production of super bright diodes

2003

First 1 kW fibre laser is created

2006

Site openings in eight major countries around the world

2006

IPG Photonics goes public on the NASDAQ New York Stock Exchange.

2010

Valentin Gapontsev is awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology

2011

The first pile was driven for the expansion of the Fryazino site

2012

Opening of a world-class technology centre

2014

Territory expanded to 5 hectares, 13 buildings built, >60,000 sq.m.

2015

A scientific and business centre opens its doors in Moscow. The centre hosts conferences and training

Creation of a new series of FiberLase medical devices
